May 1, 2009 - NEFCU & LICM Partner to Provide Field Trips

Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union’s (NEFCU) awarded a $7,500 grant to the Long Island Children’s Museum (LICM) to support key educational initiatives designed to help LICM better serve Long Island teachers and students.

NEFCU’s funding helped ensure that LICM remained an affordable option for area school children by providing subsidy support to more than 70 school group visits to LICM during the month of May. In addition, NEFCU’s support helped LICM expand its communication efforts to area schools by underwriting the museum’s school group visit brochure, which provides details on LICM field trip options and valuable information for educators on how these visits support grade-level specific curriculum and New York State Learning Standards.

“We greatly appreciate NEFCU’s ongoing support of LICM’s efforts on behalf of students and educators,” said LICM Executive Director Suzanne LeBlanc. “Their support enables us to create deeper ties to the academic community and provide interactive learning experiences to Long Island school children. The opportunity for children to experience hands-on, multi-disciplinary learning opportunities grows in value as school districts cope with budget cuts and ”
